EMPOWERMENT SCHOLARSHIP ACCOUNT

Available to Arizona students with an IEP, an Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA) is a parent or guardian controlled bank account that can be used to pay for tuition and fees at ASCEND. This account is allotted directly to the parents or guardians and has the state funding that the child’s school would receive. The school and district are not involved with how the parent or guardian spends the funds. This program has been made possible by Arizona’s breakthrough education strategies to empower parents when choosing a school for their child.

How can I apply for an ESA?

  • Follow this link to the Arizona Department of Education website to apply.

How do I know if my child qualifies?

  • Children deemed eligible to receive special education services who  attended an Arizona public school, received an ESA, or received a “Lexie’s Law” scholarship in the previous year may qualify for an ESA.
