About Us

ASCEND (Autism Spectrum Center for Educational and Neurological Development) is a K-12 non-profit Arizona Department of Education approved day school specializing in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) based education. Our program is designed for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), language disorders, and behavioral challenges. We help students develop language skills, academic, self-help, and leisure skills.
The ASCEND school was founded by Keith and Angela Levin, parents of Cade Levin, a boy affected by autism. They started the school in 2007 after a challenging journey finding a place for Cade. They live in a rural community in Arizona where Cade’s needs could not be met. They traveled in 2006 approximately 200 miles twice weekly to another private school. After the year of travel, much prayer and deliberation, they decided to start a school of their own in hopes that Cade and other children with special needs could benefit.
We firmly maintain low student to teacher ratios and provide each student with the support that is truly needed. Many of our students have a one-on-one aide with them at all times. All staff are trained in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and other research based teaching methodologies. The school provides related specialists and services for speech therapy, occupational therapy, assistive technology, and behavior analysis.
